I love, love, love, love ………..love to take pictures. It’s my thing! If I see a family with a little boy doing something cute I’ll suggest a photo of that passing by.   And I will be the one volunteering to take your pictures at that scenic place.

Well, what If those photos were lost?!!!  I have developed a system to protect my photos and family memories.

  • I regularly import the photos from my phone to my computer (erasing all photos from my phone).  This keeps the photos on my computer.
  • Then I use program called Picasa to edit & organize the photos.
  • In Picasa you can click a button called “sync to web” for each photo album you want and your photos will go in the Picasa cloud
  • If you download the Picasa app onto your phone, you can then access all those photos at any time on your phone……saving you storage space on your phone.
  • I use an external hard drive to back up my computer.  I keep that stored in a safety deposit box.  If you don’t have a safety deposit box, keep the hard drive somewhere else besides your home (maybe at your business office).  That way if your home is broken into or your house burns down the hard drive is not at the same location as your computer.
  • I also use DropBox which is a cloud base program that backs up my documents.  Picasa is friendlier to view photos on my phone.  So, I use them both in collaboration.
  • Also, take some time to scan your old photos and send them to  the cloud or on your hard drive, as well.

Your insurance policy provides coverage for your personal belongs, but the one thing that can’t be re-created are your family photos & videos.   By following the steps above hopefully your precious memories will be protected should something tragic happen to your home.
